The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has obtained summons to have each of the two sureties for fugitive murder suspect Ali Saidi Chinemba, popularly known as Ali Kaka, forfeit their K250 000 cash bail bond.

Itimu: He said his passport got burnt

Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs spokesperson Apoche Itimu said the same summons has also been filed with the court.

She observed that although the State suspects Chinemba to have left the country, the suspect is on record as having told the court that he did not have a passport as it was burnt with his house following riots by angry residents when the alleged murder was committed.

Chinemba is at large following an order of arrest issued by the High Court in Blantyre on July 22 following his contempt of court.

The 35-year-old Chinemba is answering a murder charge following an allegation that he shot dead 20-year-old Dave Kadzuwa who lived in Chilomoni Township, but came from Chamtulo Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Namkumba in Mangochi on August 4 2014.
