Dwangwa in double win

The K7.5 million Chipiku Central Region Football Association (CRFA) Premier League leaders Dwangwa United, recovered from a poor start to the second round to beat Support Battalion 2-0 in Nkhotakota on Saturday.

Dwangwa lost 2-1 at Nambuma last Saturday, but put up a great performance against Support.

Goals from Jack Chiona and Kondwani Bag were enough to ensure maximum points and put on track the club’s ambition of earning promotion to the top-flight Super League.

On Sunday, the lakeshore outfit scored five past Masters Security Service, making it six points in two games.

Chiona claimed a hat trick while Bag and Pilirani Chirwa completed the rout.

Following the victories, Dwangwa now have 53 points from 23 games. Second-placed Msundwe lost 2-0 to Civo Reserves and remain on 41 points from 22 games.

Dwangwa team manager Dave Mwandira was delighted with the wins.

“We had a good game plan for Support and the boys played according to instructions,” he said. n
