Thyolo Eagles have finished the first-round of the K1.5 million J & J Thyolo District Football League at the top of the table.

Breathing down Eagles’ necks are Nsulupi Gunners with 37 points whereas Roots are third with 35 points.
Victory Rangers occupy the fourth position in the 18-team league with 34 points whereas New Stars are fifth on 32 points.
Thyolo Medicals anchor the table with nine points from 17 games of which they have won only two, drawn three and lost 12.
Nabomba are second from the bottom with 10 points.

Rangers forward Chilinde Jeke is the leading scorer with 19 goals followed by Nsulupi Gunners’ Paul Moffat (18). Isaac Gogoya of Rangers is third with 17 goals.
The league’s chairperson, Chabvi Mbewe, said they are happy with the level of competition in the league.

“The league has been very exciting so far. The only drawback, though, is that some teams do not show up for games. In the second- round, we are going to be very strict,” said Mbewe.
