A dark cloud has fallen on Blue Eagles Sisters netball team following the death of their player, Alice Symon.

Symon, a goal attacker, died on Sunday night at Mtengowathenga where she was admitted for a week. She played for Blue Eagles Sisters for over 20 years.

Eagles Sisters general secretary Monica Katemba described Symon’s loss as a big blow to the team.

“It is a big blow to us. We have lost a senior player who was dedicated and served the team for a long time. She was influential in most of our crucial games. We were benefiting a lot from her experience and she was an inspiration to the young players,” said Katemba.

She said until her death, Symon, a police officer, was assistant coach to Sam Kanyenda and Madano Tepeteya.

She was also the Central Region Netball Committee (CRNC) vice-treasurer.

CRNC chairperson Fanuel Katengeza described Symon as a dedicated and committed person whose services will be missed

Symon, who was residing at Biwi, will be buried on today [Tuesday] in the Area of Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba.
