Early education essential for child development —World Vision
Early child education and health skills are essential components for parents to raise their children successfully, World Vision Malawi (WVM) has said.
WVM child well–being coordinator responsible for Mposa Area Development Programme (ADP) in Machinga, Joel Nankhonya, said this on Monday when his organisation distributed laundry and bath soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes to children in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mposa’s area in the district.
The event marked one of the organisation’s Bounce Back Party where children who benefit from WVM sponsorship come together to share their life experiences.
Nankhonya said children need parental care and guidance, arguing good morals from a tender age shape children to become better citizens.
“Bounce Back Party is time for meditation on the life of a child and as an organisation we discuss with the parents and the children on how we can improve their lives.
“The gifts today aim at improving their lives so that they have the responsibility to wash their clothes, bath using soap and clean their teeth regularly to look presentable both at home and school,” he said.
Child protection officer for Machinga, Robert Kamphulusa, thanked WVM and asked parents to be responsible for the health of their children.
“As government, we are glad that WVM is improving the welfare of vulnerable children in Machinga. Our plea to parents and guardians is that they make use of the privilege to support their children academically and physically,” he said.
