The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) has organised a special treat for lovers at the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (Amecea) 2014 valentine’s ball.

The event will take place on Friday at the Presidential Hotels in Lilongwe. Patrons are expected to pay K30 000 (double) and K15 000 for singles.

Fundraising committee member Herms Mpahuwa said in an interview that the objective of this event is to raise funds for Amecea conference, which Malawi will host in July this year.

Mpahuwa said ECM does not have money to hold the conference.

“We appealed to our congregation last year to help us raise K15 million for the conference. Each Catholic was asked to contribute at least K50. Unfortunately, we did not collect enough,” he said.

He further asked Catholics and people of goodwill to contribute through pledges and patronising fundraising activities the committee has lined up between February and June 2014.
