Egyptian Embassy introduces artwork competition

Egyptian Ambassador to Malawi, Maher El-Adawy, says his office will hold a competition for children and the youth entitled ‘Egypt in the eyes of Children and Youth in Malawi 2016’ among schools countrywide.

The competition will run from January to May 2016.

A statement from El-Adawy’s office issued on Thursday says the subject of the competition is any artwork preferably drawings with an Egyptian theme.

It says the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has agreed to endorse the competition to encourage school children in Malawi to learn more about Egypt, a country with which Malawi has good bilateral relations.

Reads the statement in part: “The competition will be divided into four categories, as follows; Category 1: Ages between 5 and 9, 2: Ages between 9 and 12, 3: Ages between 12 and 15, and 4: Ages between 15 and 18. There will be prizes for the first three winners of each of the four categories. First prize will be K30 000 ($50.27), second prize K20 000 ($33.51) and third prize K10 000 ($16.75).”

Besides the cash prizes, winners will also enter a second continental competition organised in Egypt which will give opportunities, including a trip to Egypt, according to the statement.

Participants are urged to provide full name, date of birth, name of school, name of district, full postal address and contact information including phone or email address as applicable.

Deadline for submitting the different artworks is Monday, May 30 2016 at the  Egyptian Embassy in Lilongwe.
