It it getting hotter in the urban music circles. More artists are breaking barriers of age difference as well as social and economic status to express their feelings towards their ‘hopefuls’ in the #WhyChallenge pioneered by musician Eli Njuchi.

Currently trending on social media with the hashtag #WhyChallenge, the initiative appears to be an arranged artistic form of love proposals in which artists are dropping music bars dedicated to their love interests.

Man of the moment: Eli Njuchi

Barely two week after youthful musician Eli Njuchi dropped a pioneering dedication to his love interest Sangie, more artists have recorded and released their versions of the challenge.

In his original song, Eli Njuchi confessed his love for Sangie, questioning why she does not give him a chance. He then encouraged other artists to use his beat and write their own lyrics to their own love interests in the music and entertainment circles.

One of the artists to have dropped their version of the song is hip-hop star Quest of Moto fame. He has lit up the #WhyChallenge with a dedication to Zodiak Broadcasting Station’s (ZBS) TV personality Priscilla Kayira.

Quest did not end at dropping the music bars for the already engaged Kayira, but also posted her as his Woman Crush on Wednesday.

Kayira reacted positively to Quest’s proposal by jokingly saying she would just return her ring to her fiancee.

Not only male artists are revealing their feelings towards the females as female hip-hop artist Toria dropped a love letter song for her fellow hip-hop artist Mfumu Hyphen, formerly Young Kay.

The popular line in Toria’s dedication goes: “Ndinkayesa ndiwe mfana m’mene umkadzitcha young…../Paja pano ndiwe mfumu……/Tell me why/Tell me why/ Chichewa landlady akukakamile.”

Toria’s love letter attracted many comments which alluded to rapper Mfumu Hyphen on her page.

However, it has been observed that not only musicians are falling for each other as comedian Tannah Mr. Broken English has also joined in by getting a love proposal from female jazz artist Temwah.

Temwah simply wrote on her Facebook page: “Dear Tannah Mr. Broken English. I heard people with broken English break hearts. We are all about love on this page, right people? No heartbreaks in 2022. We are using Jazz to make this world a better place.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Broken English, in his hilarious broken language, reacted by warning Temwah to avoid men with six packs who, according to him, cannot buy her six cans of beer.

Another musician Teddy joined in the challenge by releasing a song dedicated to his love interest Tuno. The catchy song has also attracted the attention of many.

The #WhyChallenge is gaining momentum each passing day with many musicians expressing their interests to their ‘hopefuls’.

It has become hot topic of debate on social media and proved to be a powerful artistic means to increasing artists’ popularity and traffic to their social media pages.

However, according to people’s comments monitored by the reporter on Facebook, there was a stiff competition between Eli Njuchi and Quest videos.

While others gave credit to Eli Njuchi for pioneering the #WhyChallenge to Sangie, other quarters felt Quest had outshined him with his love letter to Priscilla. Lyrically, Quest is said to have dropped interesting bars.
