Ready to rock UK: Masauko

“The fact that I have been off stage for a while may lead some people to believe that I have retired from the music scene. Which is why I am dying to perform at this year’s Independence Day celebrations just to prove my worth but also to give patrons a show they will remember for years to come,” she said.

Masauko added that, apart from music, Malawians in the UK ought to come together for the event as it is that time of the year they celebrate the republic.

According to Humphrey Chimwele, whose firm Africa Coming Up is organising the event, other artists lined up for the gala are Prince LangaNdovie, Heavie T and DJ Forbes.

“The event is organised and sponsored by Africa Coming Up and it brings together the best Malawian musicians based in the UK. For the Malawi Independence Day celebrations, we will have live performances by Emma Masauko with her big hit Musausiye which has been on the charts for many years plus dancehall artist Heavie T whose music is taking over the airwaves internationally.

“Added to that, there will be a performance by musician Prince Langa, who is chief executive officer (CEO)for Gla Global Music and he been doing events all over the UK such as the Daughters of Nyasa fundraising and the African Women’s dinner.

“And the number one Malawian DJ based in the UK, DJ Forbes, from Manchester will also be on hand to spin the decks and get people dancing until they drop on the dancefloor,” he said.
