Enlightened by ‘nails’ article

Akossa,

Last week’s article, six things your nail technician doesn’t want to tell you, which appeared on page four of Every Woman, truly enlightened me on what we ought to look out for, each time we visit the salon for a manicure or pedicure. Come to think of it, the same equipment is used on everyone, from those with nail infections to others with more serious infectious diseases.

Due to lack of resources or a wish to save, sometimes these things are not properly sterilised. Sometimes, they are not sterilised at all. Nail technicians have, on several occasions, drawn blood as they accidentally cut me while trying to remove my cuticles or file my nails. How sure can I be that I was not infected with something sinister at the time? My best advice to women would be to ask your salon if they sterilise their equipment and what they use. Also, if you want to save money by going to a shoddy salon, bring along your own manicure equipment so that you are assured of safety.
