They may have lost four players to Kamuzu Barracks (KB) in the pre-season and made noise about it, but on the pitch Epac FC have shown supremacy beating KB 2-1 at Civo Stadium on Tuesday in the 2013/14 TNM Super League.

Played in an almost empty stadium, there wasn’t much entertainment. However, Epac captain Tsanzo Dalio and defender Jafalie Chande were on target to hand KB their first defeat this season.

KB had gone ahead a minute before half-time through Victor Saidi, but a minute into first-half injury time, Dalio equalised.

Epac went on to win the match with Chande’s goal in the 67th minute to move to seventh position.

It was a new turn for Epac who last season played second fiddle to KB—losing 1-0 in the first round and drawing 0-0 in the second.

“It was a good game and there was no harassment or any physical play associated with Army teams. The win is a morale booster as we face Chipolopolo United in the Presidential Cup on Saturday. It really was a great victory,” said Epac coach Abas Makawa.

KB coach Kenwood Nkhoma congratulated Epac on the win.

“They had a good game and they have won. I congratulate them. It is unfortunate for us, but we will keep up the fight,” said Nkhoma.

KB beat Mponela United 5-2 in their first game before drawing 0-0 against Silver Strikers in Week 2 of the 2013/14 season.
