Escom United finally registered their second win of the 2012 TNM Super League campaign in beating out of form Mafco 2-1 at Kalulu Stadium on Saturday.

Young striker Kelvin Hang’anda netted in each half to erase Mafco’s sole goal from prolific Oswald Nkagula.

The win came at the cost of jobs of suspended coaches Charles Manda, Aubrey Nankhuni and McDonald Mtetemera.

The coaching panel was pushed aside with management opting for senior players Kondwani Gawani, Noel Mkandawire and Jacob Ngwira to take charge of the team.

“We hope the win could signal a turn of our fortunes. We thank God for this result. We can build on this and forget whatever happened,” Ngwira told Radio 2 FM morning sports programme on Saturday.

The win pushed Escom off the foot of the table on 11 points from 12 games as of Saturday. Before facing Big Bullets at Mzuzu Stadium on Sunday, Kabwafu FC were anchoring the table on 10 points.

Bullets were, as of Saturday, fifth on 21 points from 12 games.
