Escom want K6 millions for trio

Escom United have offered Big Bullets three key players—midfielders Chimango Kaira and James Chilapondwa and striker Heston Munthali—for K6 million on a permanent deal.

Escom chairperson Fanuel Nkhono and Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire confirmed the development.

Nkhono said Chimango has been pegged at K3.5 million (about $14 000) whereas Munthali and Chilapondwa have been priced at K1.5 million (about $60 000) and K1 million (about $4 000) respectively.

While Nkhono declared that the prices are not negotiable, Mkandawire said they will negotiate for a substantial discount.

Nkhono also said Munthali’s loan period expired on July 31 and it is only out of goodwill that Bullets are still using him.

He justified the prices, saying all the three are quality players and Bullets have already started reaping fruits of their services.

“Yes, they are indeed experienced players, but there are also other factors that have to be considered. So, we will negotiate,” said Mkandawire.

Kaira and Chilapondwa’s loan period is expected to expire at the end of this month.
