As the countdown to Mr. Malawi continues, ECT Agro Tractors has partnered Weightlifting Association of Malawi (WAM) by donating K100 000 (about $333) towards the winner of Mr. Malawi competition.

WAM already has K85 000 (about $283) for the winner of the competition to be staged on December 8 at Steers in Blantyre.

The assoication’s president Richard Kuwali confirmed the news in an interview on Monday. He expressed gratitude to ECT Agro Tractors for coming to the aid of the sport.

“We are really encouraged by this great response from ETC Agro Tractors. We hope other companies will follow suit,” said Kuwali.

He said Sports Council is also supporting them in organising the event.

“Since on the same day we are also holding the weightlifting competition, we approached Sports Council for assistance to make the occasion more competitive and rewarding to the athletes. We appeal to more companies to come in and add glamour,” he said.

Meanwhile, reigning Mr. Malawi, Henry Master, has intensified preparations as he wants not to be upstaged by 51-year-old former Mr. Malawi Isaac Mwangonde, who is making a comeback.
