Evirom challenge Bvumbwe Research today at the Kamuzu Stadium in a 2013 Carlsberg Cup last 16 match while eyeing a quarter-final berth.

But the bad thing is that the winner of the match has the misfortune of meeting red-hot Red Lions who preyed on stronger Mighty Wanderers 2-1 on Sunday in Zomba.

But because in a cup game anything can happen, Evirom face their former Premier Division rivals, Bvumbwe hoping for a turn in fortunes.

Evirom assistant coach Paul Kachingwe on Monday said he was optimistic of a win against the team they ironically replaced in the Super League from the Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League.

“All players are fine and there are no injuries to worry us. I have no doubt we will win this game,” Kachingwe said on Monday.

Zulu brothers, Harold and Wongani, are expected to lead Evirom’s attack.

Evirom have also signed Chikondi Mpulula on loan from Azam Tigers to provide fire power to the side that has this season largely relied on penalty goals. Bvumbwe have a totally new look side.

Whoever wins today will join in the quarterfinal Big Bullets, Blantyre United, the Lions, Moyale Barracks, Mponela, Mafco and Kamuzu Barracks.
