Evirom open nine-point gap in SRFL

Evirom FC are determined to win the Premier Division title in the Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League (SRFL) as they sit nine points clear at the top of the table.

The Ndirande side beat rivals BNC Produsak 2-1 at BAT Ground in Blantyre on Sunday with the Zulu brothers, Harold and Wongani, scoring one each whereas BNC notched through Alinafe Banda.

Harold leads the Golden Boot Award chase on 19 goals whereas Wongani is on a distant 12 goals.

The win took Evirom’s tally to 59 points from 27 games, nine ahead of Nchalo United who thumped White Eagles 3-1 on Saturday before hammering Mwanza Eagles 3-0 on Sunday. James Fakinala, Tamiwa Mwafongo and Dave Chadewa scored for Nchalo on Saturday.

Lower Shire teams continue to impress as Chikhwawa United are third after giving coach Charles Manda a winning start when they edged Tigers Reserve 3-2 on Saturday. Chikhwawa, who have 48 points from 25 games, drew 1-1 with BNC Produsak at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.
