Ex-Super League stars dictating Peter Mutharika SRFL

There was yet another goal by Chikondi Banda’s old legs, but it was one for his ex-Big Bullets teammate Harold Zulu that mattered most in the Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League (SRFL) over the weekend.

While Banda ensured that his name remains on fans’ lips with his fourth goal of the season in Nyasa United 3-0 thumping of Changalume Barracks on Sunday, it is Zulu who is proving to be the real deal in the Premier Division.

At a near-empty BAT ground, Zulu’s 45th-minute direct free kick earned Evirom a 1-1 draw and a return to the top on superior aggregate with 27 points from 12 games. Evirom displaced Thondwe United who also have 27 points from 13 matches.

Zulu leads the Golden Boot Award pursuit with 12 goals after putting Evirom, who beat Cobbe Barracks 1-0 on Saturday, in front only for Prince Kabudula to level matters in the second-half for Chikhwawa United.

White Eagles remain third on 22 points after being held 1-1 by Changalume Barracks also on Sunday. Chanco FC remain at the tail on three points after being humbled 2-0 by Mwanza Eagles on Saturday.
