Local musician Faith Mussa has joined forces with Zambian gospel songbird Esther Chungu on a single titled Anikwezeka.

The two artists met and recorded the song in Malawi after writing their verses in the studios, according to Chungu.

“I am a huge fan of Faith Mussa and so I approached him and asked if he would be open to feature in one of my songs. He accepted,” she said in an interview.

Mussa: We are planning a joint performance

Chungu said with the help of music promoter Priscilla Mhango and Manisfest Team, she came to Malawi and recorded the song.

“The song is called Anikwezeka which in the literal sense means ‘He raised me up’. In this sense we are describing how God has been protecting, guiding and providing for us,” she said.

Chungu added that she is pleased that the song has been well received by fans from both Malawi and Zambia.

In a separate interview Mussa said he and Chungu plan to jointly perform in Malawi and Zambia as soon as the Covid-19 situation gets under control.

“Once we can freely gather and do concerts, it’s going down,” he said.

Mussa disclosed that most of the beats and vocals were recorded by Manifest in Lilongwe while he did guitars at his farm studio in Mchinji.

“The rest of the post-production work was done by Magg44 in Zambia,” he said.
