Gospel musician Faith Mussa has announced that he will release his album next year as work on the project is underway.

One of the songs to feature in the album is Mdidi, a Manganje hit which he launched during a glamourous show at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe on Friday night.

The track has already struck a chord with most music lovers.

“I am very happy and I feel like I have respected this song by giving it a proper launch,” said the musician.

“I am also happy my fans came out because launching a single in Malawi is quite knew. It is something that most people were like, ‘really?’, meaning they had doubts.”

He said he has decided to be releasing every song as a main project, stressing this is a new era and musicians ought to be doing things in a different way.

Mussa stressed that after releasing enough songs to make an album, he will let his fans choose the title track.

“So, by the time the album will be out, people will already have known the songs. Those that will be left out will still be in the public domain as my singles,” he said.

“I am launching another song next year, April to be precise, but it will be released in January. For now I will keep it under wraps.”

Apart from his solo career, Faith also performs with Amaravi Movement, a band led by Peter Mawanga. It specialises in Afro beat and is a traditional band with acoustic instruments.

He is also part of Takula, a band that has been reworking, rerecording and re-producing traditional songs with the aim of saving the rich national heritage.

Mussa was also a member of the gospel group Mussa Family.n
