Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu Manda has applauded Central Region Football Association (CRFA) for securing sponsorship for its district leagues.

In an interview yesterday, he said for the sport to grow, it needs partners.

Said Nyamilandu: “I am glad that the regional affiliates are taking initiatives to secure sponsors for their leagues and districts. What CRFA is doing is highly commendable because the game cannot develop on its own without partners.

“Our ambition is to pursue a bottom-up development agenda by reaching out to the rural areas for talent. The positive strides that are being made by CRFA reinforce our strategic direction.”

CRFA chairperson Austin Ajawa attributed the success to a good working relationship with his executive.

“I am grateful that we are fulfilling what we promised our affiliates in our manifesto. We were entrusted with these positions based on what we offered in our manifesto,” said Ajawa.

Nkhotakota district football committee chairperson Amon Lunda, hailed CRFA for living up to their promise.

On his part, Ntchisi district football committee chairperson Moses Kapatamoyo also said the sponsorship would help to  unearth talent in the district.

Since CRFA executive committee was ushered into office, five months ago,  the association has secure sponsorhip for six districts of the nine.

The six districts with sponsorship are Salima, Mchinji, Dowa, Dedza, Nkhotakota and Ntchisi.

Recently, CRFA secured K4 million sponsorship from Creck Hardware owned by Apostle Clifford Kawinga for Nkhotakota and Ntchisi districts football leagues.

The Salima league is sponsored by Chizamusoka Gondwe while Mchinji district league is sponsored by the Joseph family.

Dowa and Lilongwe districts football leagues are both sponsored by Lilongwe Dairy  and St Louis Private School sponsors Dedza.

All the leagues are sponsored to the tune of K2 million except for Lilongwe which is at K3 million.
