Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and Silver Strikers have applauded the Central Bankers midfielder Duncan Nyoni’s move to Tanzania’s top-flight team Simba Sports Club.

The Flames on-and-off player signed a three-year deal at an undisclosed fee, according to Silver chief executive officer Thoko Chimbali.

Secured three-year deal: Nyoni

In an interview yesterday, FAM club licencing and compliance manager Casper Jangale said his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) was issued on Friday.

“As Fam, we have cleared Duncan Nyoni and he is now a Simba Sports Club player. But there’s one hurdle we need to clear. He was registered as a Silver player for CAF Confederation Cup. We have written CAF and this will be sorted out as soon as possible so that Simba should register him for CAF Champions League,” he said.

Jangale said it was a lucrative deal although he declined to give finer details of the figures involved.

“The money involved is good which is good for the development of our football as well as players should this continue. But Silver are in a better position to disclose the amount,” he said.

On his part, Chimbali said the deal would help the player to develop his career.

“Duncan Nyoni has signed a three-year deal with Sports Club. This is important for the growth of his career. Simba Sports Club play in Confederation of African Football competitions every year which can help him to be exposed,” he said.

Chimbali said Simba identified Nyoni through video clips which were sent to potential buyers.

A statement posted on Silver’s website stated that the player has been cleared.

Reads the statement in part: “Having reached an agreement between Silver Strikers and Simba Sports Club, Duncan Nyoni has signed a three-year contract with Simba and an ITC (International Transfer Certificate) issued on 13th August 2021.

“Duncan left Malawi on Wednesday, 11th August 2021 for a medical check up and to discuss personal terms. Join us in wishing Nyoni all the best as he soars and shines on the international stage.”
