Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has approved four players’ intermediaries for the period June 1 2020 to May 31 2021.

FAM general secretary Alfred Gunda yesterday said in pursuant to article 6.3 of the Fifa regulations on working with intermediaries, which came into force on April 1, 2015, Lunjika Moyo, Jimmy Zakazaka, Felix Ngamanya Sapao and Mwayi Msungama are mandated to facilitate local and international football player transfers in the country.

“All TNM Super League, Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, Youth and Women’s leagues are, therefore, required to work only with registered intermediaries in matters of player transfers. These include both local and international transfers,” he said.

Gunda said to address cases of non-registered persons engaging in players’ transfers, FAM will not hesitate to take strong disciplinary action against such individuals, clubs and officials.

“Any transfers that may involve nonregistered intermediaries shall not be attended by the association and shall be sanctioned accordingly,” he said.

Zakazaka, who is also Football Players Association (FPA) president, said the steps FAM has taken to ensure only registered intermediaries facilitate player transfers, will help to bring sanity in player transfers.

“Letting anybody facilitate player transfers creates confusion in the system,” he said.
