FAM president Walter Nyamilandu has given Flames interim head coach Eddington Ng’onamo the go-ahead to double as Big Bullets mentor.

Nyamilandu gave the nod on Tuesday when unveiling Ng’onamo and his backroom staff of Ernest Mtawali, Patrick Mabedi (assistant coaches), team doctor Captain Kondwani Kachipanda (in absentia) and team manager Charles Manda at Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre.

“There is no harm for him doubling as he is coming in on part-time basis,” Nyamilandu said noting that national team breaks would be affording the coach time with the People’s Team.

Ng’onamo must have been relieved hearing it from FAM as he seemed elusive when sports journalists sought clarification on his role at Bullets. Earlier, he had hinted on relinquishing his role at Bullets.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Manda also disclosed that he had excused himself from his coaching role with Super League promotion candidates Chikhwawa United who are in the Premier Division.

The Flames interim coaching panel is on a three-month probation.

“My agreement with them is flexible. I can always go back when free from national team engagements. They have coaches Friday Nantongwane and Thom Kaonga who are taking care of the team,” Manda said.
