Football Association of Malawi (FAM) executive committee will hold its first quarterly meeting of 2021 today in Mangochi where among other things, it will review the Covid-19 situation.

FAM general secretary (GS) Alfred Gunda said this is one of the most important meetings on the association’s calendar as it reviews the previous year and forecasts on the coming one.

Gunda: Various reports will be presented

He said: “The executive will be presented with various reports from finance, competitions, marketing, technical, national teams and others.

“But one key area is the report on the Covid-19 situation both from the football restart point of view and the relief fund.

“We concluded the fund’s first phase on December 31 and there is need to look at the financial report and also access the progress of the second phase.

“The meeting will also discuss a number of outstanding legal issues such as the regional associations’ electoral processes and the Beach Soccer Association appeals case.

The FAM GS also said there were a number of programmes that the executive committee sanctioned at its last meeting of October held in Nkhata Bay which need be followed up.

The meeting will also discuss internal audit report, upcoming national teams’ engagements, planned projects for the new year, employment contracts’ status, ratification of the legal committee and  determination the date for the next annual general meeting.
