FAM executive committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow (Friday) in Blantyre where, among other things, it will discuss the proposed coaches for the Flames by the technical subcommittee and make a decision.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda said the quarterly executive committee meeting will also discuss the violence that occurred in Balaka a fortnight ago, progress on the draft statutes and the forthcoming national teams’ programmes.

“Of course, the issue of hiring the national coach is an ongoing process, but the executive will discuss the proposal that was made by the technical subcommittee and then make a decision.

“The outcome of the meeting on Saturday will give us a direction on how we will proceed with the talks with Sports Council regarding the issue of coach next week,” said Nyirenda.

He also said there were several proposals and recommendations that were made during the constitutional review meeting that was convened by Fifa last November and the executive will look into them and determine the way forward.
