The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has released a calendar of events for the remainder of the year indicating dates for the national team and FAM organised competition events.

The competitions include the ongoing Presidential Cup, which goes into the national phase this weekend, the Standard Bank and the yet-to-be-launched Carlsberg Cup.

FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda said this is only about activities that FAM administers.

“For the regional leagues, they are yet to draw their calendars while the Super league is also yet to come up with an official booklet of the fixture as they continue publishing fixtures on weekly basis,” said Nyirenda.

Sulom general secretary Williams Banda said the calendar was overdue as it has delayed the league in coming up with its full- season fixtures.

“We could not draw a season long fixture without knowing FAM’s activities. They should have had this long time ago, but anyway we can now draw our programme without worries of cancellations,” he said.

According to the calendar, the Presidential Cup finals will be held on July 28. The Standard Bank Cup will start on August 11 and the finals are slated for September 29. The Carlsberg Cup will kick off on August 11 and the finals will be held on October 27.

The calendar also shows that the Flames will play three international friendly games, on Independence Day on July 6 and on two Fifa International calendar dates on August 15 and November 14.

The Flames also play their last 2013 Afcon qualifying round first leg during the weekend of September 7-9 and the return leg during the Weekend of October 12-14.

The Under-17 national team will play Botswana in the Africa Youth Championship on September 8 and 29.
