FAM sets deadline for BB Reserve

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) says it expects Nyasa Big Bullets to make a stand on their reserve side’s TNM Super League participation prospects by today.
The People’s Team reserve side sealed the Chitetezo Mbaula Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division title on Sunday on goal aggregate after playing out a goalless draw with second-placed Ntopwa FC.
The association’s licensing and compliance manager Casper Jangale said: “We will be engaging them today [yesterday] with the hope of having a clear picture by tomorrow [today].
“Otherwise, the team that will earn promotion from the South is the only one left to submit a request for consideration to play in the TNM Super League next season.”
He said the other three—Masters Security, Karonga United and Mlatho Mponela—who were fined K50 000 each for failing to meet the January 10 cut-off point, have completed the process.
However, Bullets chief executive officer Fleetwood Haiya said the board will make a determination on the matter within the week.
“We are aware about the urgency of the matter and the board will meet to decide within the week,” he said. But Haiya said they are aware of the requirements that an institution cannot be allowed to have two teams in the top-flight league, among others.
