The Fellowship Association of Malawi (Fama) Top Eight Bonanza final between Bullets FC and Blue Eagles has been brought forward by a week to May 5, the organisers have announced.

However, the competition’s organising secretary Japhet Majekete said on Sunday other logistics such as the venue and the curtain-raiser, remain unchanged.

Initially, the final match was supposed to take place this month, but was postponed to May 12 following the death of president Bingu wa Mutharika.

Majekete attributed the change to the Flames’ trip to China.

“Since the national team will be travelling to China for an international friendly match, we thought it wise to bring the match forward as both teams have contributed players to the national team.

“We want the game to be exciting and competitive. We have already informed the teams on the changes,” said Majekete.

Bullets’ players in the Flames camp are goalkeeper Vincent Gona, defender George Nyirenda, midfielders Henry Kabichi and Fischer Kondowe and striker Gabadinho Mhango whereas Eagles have defender Steve Chagoma, midfielder Christopher John Banda and striker Innocent Bokosi.

Majekete said capital city giants Silver Strikers and Civo United will still curtain-raise the final to add hype.

Winners of the competition will go home K3.5 million richer.

Meanwhile, Flames coach Kinnah Phiri has said he will release players from both teams to feature in the final encounter.
