Family affair as BB face reserve sidehas

Nyasa Big Bullets’ main and reserve teams this afternoon face-off in a training match at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre with the club’s supporters director Stone Mwamadi and chief executive officer (CEO) Fleetwood Haiya taking opposite benches, respectively.

To show their seriousness, each has put on the table K300 000 that will go to the one who carries the day.

At present, the main team is at the summit of the 16-team TNM Super League log table, with 46 points from 20 games, seven points ahead of second-placed defending champions Be Forwards Wanderers while the reserve side is on top of the Chitetezo Mbaula Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Premier League, with 42 points from 18 matches, the same points as second-placed Ntopwa Super Boys, who have played a game more.

The main team remains unbeaten in the elite league, having won 13 matches and drawn seven. The reserve side has also registered 13 wins in the lower league but have drawn thrice and lost twice.

Mwamadi said: “I will support the main team and I know we are going to win, having not lost a single game in the top-flight league. But because the CEO believes the reserve side will carry the day, we have agreed to formalise ‘rivalry’ with a tangible bet.”

On his part, Haiya said he has faith in the reserve side, which he said has a lot of talented youngsters.

“As a club, it is our wish to build a strong team and we already have in our reserve side a youthful talent, which is capable of engaging the main team in a Kwasa-kwasa dance. I have trust in the reserve side that they will not let me down,” he said.

During the training match, which will also act as a fundraiser, entry at the open stands will be K1 000. MBC, Covered and VIP stands will cost K2 000, K3 000 and K5 000, respectively.
