The Music Club will on Sunday host a family music picnic at the Music Club Park at HHI campus in Blantyre.
The event will have performances from the music school students and guest artists such as Waliko Makhala, Patience Namadingo, David Mariot, Bryan Mundy, John Benitto and profesional Classical musician Arjan Visser from Holland.
The event coincides with commemoration of World Music Day which falls on the same day. This year’s theme is Get up, Stand Up for Music.
In an interview with The Nation, Harold Bema one of the organisers of the event, said they decided to host the event to showcase the talent they are grooming in their music students.
“We also want to show parents why they have to send their children to the music club. And since the event falls on World Music Day, this is also a celebration of music,” said Bema.
Last year, on March 3, the Music Club performed alongside veteran Malawian classical musician Wyndham Chechemba at the College of Medicine Sports Complex during the celebration of his birthday as well as Martyrs Day Celebration.
“We want to make the event an annual event,” said Bema.
