Return of Big Brother Nigeria on Sunday made the series’ followers hope for the return of the continental showpiece.
The last Big Brother Africa took place in 2014 and since then, fans have been treated to an adapted version of the same, but for South Africa only and now Nigeria.
Since the launch of the Nigerian version of the show, some Malawian fans have been mulling over the absence of the continental show, which is one of the most popular reality television shows in the country and southern Africa.
“When will Big Brother Africa return? It’s almost three years now,” wrote a fan on Facebook.
The other fan only said: “Kodi ndekuti tiiwale za Big Brother Africa?”
Another fan, however, was more comprehensive: “The idea of having a specific Big Brother show for a certain country is good but it takes away the fun that comes with different personalities from different countries being under one roof. Big Bother Africa is more massive.”
MultiChoice Malawi sales and marketing manager Chimwemwe Nyirenda said there are no plans for Big Bother Africa, but you never know.
Styled Big Brother Naija, the show will run for 78 days and ends on April 9.
So far, 12 housemates are in the exquisite and more luxurious house, adorned with the finest fabrics, exuding nothing but warmth and opulence.
Season 9 of Big Brother Africa, tagged Hotshots, took place in 2014 with a total of 26 housemates from 13 participating countries.
Malawi was represented by Mr. 265 real name Masuzgo Mzumara and Sipe Chitambo. n
