Farmers World in bicycle competition

Farmers World Limited is hosting a Palasa Palasa Hunter Bicycle Competition on Saturday starting from 8.30amin Salima.

According to Farmers World area manager for Lakeshore Route Gringer Makawa, 20 athletes will take part in the 10-kilometre race.

“This is not the first time for us to host such kind of a race. The bicycle racing competition was first piloted in Kasungu in June 2013 and proved to be a huge success with our customers.

“We are now taking it to our customers in Salima who also deserve to be a part of such an exciting competition,” said Makawa.

The competition will start from Kamuzu Road to Katelera Town Centre and back and will take a round trip of 10 kilometres.

“The competitors are from Salima area and registered to enter the competition after buying products wo (about $12.50)rth K5 000 or more from our Salima shop. The main aim of this competition is to show our appreciation to our valued customers who but for their support, we would not exist. We want to show them that we value them tremendously,” said Makawa.

First prize is Hunter bicycle worthy K27 500 (about $68.78), and second prize is a 50 kilogramme bag of fertiliser. Other prizes include bags of seafresh salt according to Makawa.

Makawa said the competition will soon be introduced in other districts where Farmers World is operating its business.

Farmers World has assured to dress all the athletes that will compete and will be provided with some refreshments.
