Producers of Fatsani movie have come under fire for keeping on changing the dates of its release.
The producers indicated that the movie would be ready for distribution by Christmas Day 2021, which did not happen.
And on January 1 2022, fans reacted coldly to one of the movie’s directors Gift ‘Sukez’ Sukali’s post on Facebook that the movie will be ready in the new year.
Sukezi said they were fine-tuning the movie to give fans a quality product in the new year.
“You will all see the movie. We are making sure that everything is in place. God’s ways are not our ways,” he wrote.
However, some fans said the producers are simply taking them for granted.
Atsogo Mathews Kapanda reacted: “This arrogance will take you nowhere. You have lied to Malawians and disappointed them, which is dangerous to your brand.”
But the movie has not completely been kept away from Malawians as it was screened twice, once in Blantyre and once in Lilongwe. Apart from the highly publicised premieres, the movie has enjoyed some success on the international scene with its nomination for the Oscars, and for Best Feature Film at the African Movies Aacademy at Sotombe Film Festival, the nomination of its lead actress Hannah Sukali at the African Movies Academy as well as the win of its director Sukali as Best Director in a Feature Film.
