Fattani Gold cricket team manager Sohel Manjra is confident that his charges are primed for OG Plastic Southern Region Cricket title following the club’s qualification to the semi-final over the weekend.

Gold beat Mpingwe Grey in the quarter-final played at Mpingwe Sports Club on Sunday to date Mpingwe Silver in the last four.

Gold won the toss, but it was Silver which elected to bat, making 168 runs in 25 overs. In reply, Gold stormed to 172 runs with four balls remaining.

It was this high pressure quarter-final that made Manjra believe winning the cup is a possibility. Yakub Bhiji will officiate the semi-finals.

“This is the first time we are getting this far. The quarter-final was probably the toughest we have played in this competition and having survived at that stage, we are poised to go all the way to win the cup,” said Manjra when he called The Nation on Tuesday.

In the other semi-final, Mpingwe Orange will meet Indian Sports Club. The competition attracted 10 teams.
