FDH Bank has asked Malawians to be saving their money by opening a Zatheka savings account which has a high interest of 18 percent payable quarterly.

The bank’s senior manager for personal for personal banking and channels Edward Mtulutsa said on Monday when the financial institution conducted the third draw of its eight-week K4 million (US$9 828) Zatheka Promotion.

“It is important for our customers to invest [by entering the promotion] because you get something at the end of the day,” he said.

For three weeks in a row, overall winners of K150 000 (US$369) cash prize have been from Lilongwe and on Monday, Peter Chavula, a businessperson was the lucky winner of the prize.

“Thank you very much. I feel happy to have won. I rely on this bank account and all the money that I earn from my businesses goes into this account,” he said when called on the phone by an official from the bank to relay the news.

During the draw held at the bank’s head office in Blantyre, the other four winners drawn from all the bank’s branches went away with K50 000 (US$123) each.

To enter the promotion, the bank’s customers have to open a Zatheka savings account, which has a minimum balance of K10 000 (US$25) and keep savings of up to K50 000 and above.

Those eligible to enter include holders of personal and business accounts and clubs, societies and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The competition will run up to May 9 this year and the overall winner will go away with K1 million (US$2 457).
