FDH Bank excited with LL Mayor’s Trophy tourney
FDH Bank, main sponsors of the 2019 edition of the Lilongwe City Mayor’s Trophy, say they are impressed with the level of excitement this year’s competition provided.
The bank’s public relations officer Lorraine Lusinje said FDH Bank is looking forward to the finals slated for this Saturday at Silver Stadium.
The finals will feature Kamuzu Barracks and Ngwenya primary schools in netball while Biwi will face Kabwabwa in football.
“Overall, it has been an exciting tournament and it was evident that each team has put in their best, and as FDH, we applaud the efforts of all the team-players for their good sportsmanship.
“This year’s event was a success. The main goal of these tournaments is to uplift Malawi’s youth, support their growing talents and encourage them to take part in healthy sporting activities,” she said..
Lusinje said FDH Bank is honoured and proud to have sponsored the tournament.
“Seeing these children who have powered through hours of training to groom their skills for this event is an indication of dedication and commitment among these youth. The dedication displayed by these teams throughout this tournament is a step towards growth.
“FDH takes a strong stand towards continuous growth and we are quick to jump at any opportunity that has the potential to help others grow. We look forward to Saturday’s games and are wishing all the teams the best of luck,” she said
On her part, Lilongwe City Council spokesperson Tamara Chafunya said they are pleased that the long-awaited finals are around the corner.
“We would like to sincerely thank FDH Bank for coming to our rescue and showing their corporate obligation to our youth in the city. We take this opportunity to request other stakeholders in the city to embrace such opportunities as we build a city that is conducive and accommodating to all,” she said.
Chafunya said despite some challenges, the Mayor’s Trophy is supposed to be an annual event “and we call upon everyone to patronise the event , let us all go to Silver Stadium in our large numbers to cheer all the teams”.
FDH Bank is sponsoring the event to the tune of K10 million.
A football match between Lilongwe City Council Socials and Lilongwe Urban Leaders will curtain-raise the finals.
