FDH contributes K4m to accountants Lakeshore conference

FDH Financial Holdings Limited on Tuesday over K4 Million to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) in support of their annual Lakeshore Conference.

This year’s conference will be held on 16 to 18 November at Sun and Sand Holiday Resort in Mangochi under the Navigating the economic terrain: Moving forward regardless of challenges.

Speaking during the cheque presentation, FDH Bank Plc head of finance Richard Chipezaani applauded the role ICAM plays in promoting the accounting discipline in the country.

He said: “ICAM annual Lakeshore conference is the largest conference in the country and brings together various key players in the financial sector as well as other relevant and critical sectors of the country which is important to foster such synergy as a catalyst for growth, development and economic empowerment.

“This year’s theme is important not to the financial management sector but the country at large. As a country, we need to pool our effort to archive the much needed economic empowerment with or without the challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic and other economic challenges.”

In her remarks, ICAM director of education and training Chrissie Jere hailed the bank for sponsoring this year’s conference.

“This year’s topic was selected because of the Covid-19 pandemic that we are experiencing. It’s appropriate that accountants and other stakeholders should meet and discuss how best this can be handled so that businesses should continue flourishing.

“We are expecting 900 delegates to participate in this year’s conference where they will be following the proceeding in five halls due to Covid-19 preventive measures while others will following through Zoom,” she said.
