FDH Bank on Wednesday donated K3.2 million worth of medical equipment to the Blantyre District Health Office (DHO) to assist in its fight against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

FDH Bank head of personal and business banking Kawawa Msapato said during the handover at the Blantyre DHO premises that the bank made the donation recognising that health officers need support in their efforts to test, track and treat Covid-19 patients.

He said the K3.2 million relief package, which includes medical equipment such as surgical gloves, masks and thermometers, will help protect medical personnel during their work.

Said Msapato: “The medical staff in the health sector are the ones who are deep in the fight against the pandemic. We do realise that they need support from different stakeholders and as a corporate player we wanted to do our part.

“It is important that that the private sector and government work together in order to overcome this pandemic.”

Blantyre District director of health and social services Gift Kawalazira commended FDH Bank for the donation.

He said by ensuring the safety of health workers in the field, the donation would strengthen the district health office’s Covid-19 containment efforts.
