FDH Bank Limited on Wednesday splashed prizes and cash in the ongoing Kudzala Chuma promotion.

The bank’s mobile van was taken to the populous Ndirande Township in Blantyre where draws for the winners who have opened accounts with the bank, particularly in the township won the prizes and cash.

After the draw for the six lucky winners was conducted, they were given a choice between money and the box.

For those who chose cash, they went away with money ranging from K3 000 (about $12) to K4 500 (about $18) whereas those who chose the box, won prizes such as cellphones, electric iron and hoe.

FDH Bank retail banking manager Edward Mtulutsa was excited with the response the competition has generated from their potential customers.

He said in the competition, expected to end in September, the bank has attracted close to 2 000 new accounts, but could not indicate how much the bank has raked in in savings.

Mtulutsa said the competition is aimed at increasing the visibility of the bank among the local communities.

“We want people to know what FDH Bank is offering and also encourage a saving culture. As you know, FDH is a growing bank, we would like people to grow with us,” he said.

To enter the promotion, one just has to open an account with K1 000 (about $4) and existing customers are required to deposit a minimum of K50 000 (about $200) each month to get an automatic entry.
