FDH sponsors three CoM students

FDH Bank has sponsored three needy first-year students at College of Medicine (CoM) with tuition fees and upkeep allowances to the tune of K750 000 (about $1 875).

The beneficiaries; Lidwell Msukwa studying for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Vacso Mwakaswaya Bachelor of Pharmacy and Peter Jere Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery applauded the bank for the good gesture saying this would psychologically help them to study with ease and concentrate and work hard in class and become good life-saving doctors.

Jere in an interview said he had been selling tomatoes with his mother at Mlangeni for him to come to the college saying the money would help him concentrate in his studies.

FDH Bank senior manager-personal and business banking, Edward Mtulutsa said his bank was happy to partner with College of Medicine to assist the welfare of the needy students.

“We have deliberately taken a duty to support both the health and education sectors as we have seen how these sectors touch lives of many to create real opportunities and impact to our societies. Their academic performances encouraged us to come in and assist.

“We are excited to be part of their lives and ensure the realisation of their dreams of being medical practitioners , working to aid and save lives with the skills and experience that they are to acquire by undergoing their studies here at the College of Medicine, a member institution of the University of Malawi,” said Mtulutsa.

Dean of Basic Medical Science, Dr Chioza Bandawe, thanked FDH Bank for coming in to assist the needy students which he said would assist them to study well, saying the college has so many such students that need to be supported.
