Fifa waters down Flames, Bafana game

The Flames meet a depleted Bafana Bafana tomorrow in Rustenburg in what is merely a practice match that will have no significance on Fifa rankings.
FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda confirmed from Sun City, North West Province that the game will not be classified as an international friendly, meaning that Young Chimodzi and his South African counterpart Ephraim Shakes Mashaba might use more substitutes.

“Instead of us training on our own, we have decided with our counterparts to just use it as a training match. That is the agreement,” said Nyirenda on the sidelines of the 2015 Cosafa Cup for which he is a general coordinator of the tournament.
Little wonder, there is little mention of the match here with Bafana only arriving on Thursday for the game the following day.
Malawi is tuning up for May 25 Cosafa quarter-final meeting with Mozambique whereas South Africa take on Botswana on the same day.
Bafana Bafana have since been depleted by the injuries to Puleng Tlolane and Athenkosi Dlala and Cole Alexander and have since been replaced by Mdunduzi Nyanda, Tlou Segolela and Lebogang Manyama respectively.
