Fire gutted one of the blocks of the residence of the Daughters of Wisdom Sisters at Lunzu Convent in Blantyre on Friday.
Chileka Police Station Officer Jacqueline Kunje confirmed the development and said nobody was injured in the accident.
She said although Blantyre City Council and Chileka Airport fire brigade teams rushed to the scene, they failed to contain the raging fire.
“All property in the affected rooms has been burnt to ashes. Nothing was rescued,” said Kunje.
The cause of the fire, which started at around eight o’clock in the morning, has not yet been established.
Efforts to get comment from the sisters proved futile.
