The return of the Sound and Light Festival will be fired up by Nigerian singer FireBoy DML who will be the headline act at the event scheduled for October 30 at Blantyre Sports Club.

The event will also mark the official launch of Castel Malawi’s new beer brand Shandie. The arrangement follows a partnership the beverage producing company has entered with Entertainers Promotions, the organisers of the Sound and Light Concert.

Entertainers Promotions director Tonderai Banda said the coming in of Castel Malawi is a big boost towards the organisation of the event. He said the partnership will raise the profile and status of the event and add a new dimension of fun to it.

He said: “Castel Malawi has brought a lot of exciting innovations to the event. The incentives, targeted at those buying tickets for the event, will really excite our fans. And we are very grateful for that.”

According to details of the partnership, once one buys a ticket, they will be entitled to receive four bottles of Shandie at the entrance. And with the ticket, they will automatically enter into a promotion run by Castel Malawi whose ultimate prize is a Nissan NP200 vehicle to be given out in December.

The Sound and Light Festival is making a comeback after a three-year absence. Since the inception of the event, this will be the first time that the event will feature an international artist.

Banda said the festival has come back in a rebranded version.

“The break has allowed us to revisit the execution of the event. We are coming back in a fresh and new version. And we are assuring the followers of the event that from now onwards the event will be held annually as was the case before,” he said.

At the moment, the only artists billed to perform at the event are the Nigerian Fireboy DML and local Afro-pop artist Onesimus. Banda said the other set of artists will be announced on Friday.

Castel Malawi marketing manager Twikale Chirwa said they are driven by a passion to satisfy their customers and consumer needs for today and the future.

He said: “Innovation is in the DNA of Castel Malawi and, as such, we are excited to launch a new offering for our consumers. This will be the biggest product launch in history. The line-up of the day includes New Product experience, a fashion show and high definition photographs moments.”
