Firms shun Double Wowza launch

Lomwe and his Batswana Big Brother Amplified housemate Zeus are set to launch their Double Wowza album this month despite being greeted with poor response from the corporate world.

In March, Lomwe appealed to government and corporate captains to support his show, saying it would attract some of his housemates from last year’s Big Brother reality show, including Nigerian showmates Vina as well as Karen and Zambia’s Mumba.

But Lomwe on Sunday said the response has been below expectation even though the “big event” is likely to bring a big bill.

“So far, we only have Village Green which has offered accommodation, Air Malawi has offered free flights to all housemates coming from within Sadc and I believe that Carlsberg will help out with the parties before and after the launch,” said the former 101 FM Power deejay.

According to him, the Double Wowza weekend will start with pre-party at Zanzi on Friday, May 25, and the actual launch will take place at Blantyre Sports Club the following day. The after-party is scheduled for Sunday at Mibawa.

Supporting artists include Piksy, Maskal and Fikisa.

“This show is bigger than Lomwe and Zeus. It will put Malawi on the map and show people that anything is possible. This is why we are still asking people to come in and help in whatever way they can. Chanel O is expected to come and cover the event,” he said.

The show was initially scheduled for May 18, but has been shifted to avoid a clash with Lomwe’s arch-rival Tay Grin whose entertainment company, Black Rhino, will host Nigeria’s Oleku star—Ice Prince.
