Fischer’s mum grateful for son’s recall

Flames winger Fischer Kondowe’s mother, Mary Phiri-Kondowe, has expressed gratitude to the soccer fraternity for its relentless outcry to have her son recalled.

Kondowe’s mother said this when she visited The Nation last Friday.

“I was surprised at the interest the issue of Fischer generated because everywhere I went, people kept on saying they wanted him back in the national team and my response was that if it is in God’s interest, then he will be recalled.

“Kulira kwawo kwamveka. I would also like to thank the coaches for heeding the call because without their approval, Fischer could not have been recalled,” she said.

Kondowe said she and her husband counselled Fischer at length the moment it was announced that he had been recalled.
