Foundation for Irrigation and Sustainable Development (Fisd) has outlined a great launch for their second edition on Saturday in Lilongwe.

Apart from the main game, there will be live performance by musician Skeffa Chimoto and other supporting acts.

The launch will start with a parade from the Dwangwa Trading Centre to Chitowe Stadium, according to Fisd marketing and communication manager Wezzi Chiumia.

Chiumia(2ndR) announced the sponsorship increment last week

He said: “Management has thought it proper to come with a bang in our second year of the sponsorship of the cup. We want to provide full entertainment for the fans to appreciate and that is why we decided to include live band performances on top of the actual game. We want fans to come with their families and enjoy the launch.”

Chiumia has since promised to work on ensuring that security is tight to avoid incidents of violence.

“In partnership with the Football Association Malawi [FAM], we will ensure that there is security so that people can watch the match in peace. We don’t want to spoil the image of the game and also of the company,” he said.

Be Forward Wanderers are defending champions after beating Kamuzu Barracks on post-match penalties last year.

Meanwhile, FAM has commended Fisd for their commitment to sponsor football through the challenge cup following the increment of the package from K45 million to K50.2 million.

“Looking at the economic environment globally and also in the country, it is not easy for companies to increase sponsorship to football. We are very appreciative as this will add more competition. We promise to support them so that their brand can grow. I urge the fans out there to embrace Fisd services and products as a way of saying thank you,” said FAM vice-president James Mwenda. n
