Foundation for Irrigation and Sustainable Irrigation (Fisd) says they will dress Fisd Challenge Cup semi-finalists. The semi-finals will see Blue Eagles hosting Be Forward Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium with Silver Strikers meeting Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium.

The announcement comes on the back of observation that teams have been using TNM branded uniforms.

Fisd executive director Frank Mwenechanya said they did not have problems with teams using the TNM branded jerseys in the preliminary stages because they are not into direct competition with TNM in terms of products and services on the market.

“We offer completely different services and products as such we didn’t have problems with teams using the TNM uniforms. But for the semi-finals and the finals we have bought all the four teams uniforms and it is a must that teams use our uniforms as we are promoting the Fisd brand,” he said.

Mwenechanya said the Fisd brand is about promoting irrigation agriculture and food security in the country.

The K45 million annual sponsorship will run for the next five years according to the contract signed between Fisd and Football Association of Malawi. Meanwhile, TNM senior manager (business services) Limbani Nsapato said they have no problems with teams wearing their branded uniforms in other competitions.

“We gave the uniforms to the teams. We don’t own the uniforms. If the clubs want to use them in other competitions, we have no problem. But it is a must that they use those uniforms in the league matches,” said Nsapato.
