The official launch of Fisd Wizards FC has been shifted from today to July 17, the team’s chairperson Mike Tembo has announced.

Wizards FC, formerly known as Surestream FC, was scheduled for official unveiling this afternoon at Sunbird Lilongwe, but Tembo said yesterday that some amendments in this weekend’s TNM Super League fixtures have prompted the outfit to revise the programme.

The team was expected to take on Civo United in Lilongwe tomorrow, but they will now host Moyale Barracks at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo, Chikwawa.

“Due to the change of fixtures, we thought it wise to shift the launch to Friday next week at Sunbird Lilongwe. We feel this would be proper due to the proximity of the hotel to our match venue the following day when we will face Dedza Young Soccer Stars before taking on Silver Strikers in Lilongwe,” Tembo said.

The outfit has secured a one-year Fisd sponsorship worth between K40 million ($88 889) and K65 million ($144 444).

Fisd Wizards anchor the 15-team log-table with six points from nine games. Nevertheless, the sponsors have set avoiding relegation as a condition for a long-term partnership deal.
