Five arrested at BB vs Moyale match

Police on Sunday arrested five men for allegedly engaging in various offences during a TNM Super League match between Big Bullets and Moyale Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The suspects were apprehended for being found in possession of cannabis sativa (chamba), stealing mobile phones and bringing disorder during the game.

Southern Region deputy spokesperson Peter Mchiza said the five, who were detained at Soche Police, were expected to appear before court on Monday.

The five are 17-year-old Gilbert Cassim from Lunzu in Blantyre and Matthias Phiri, 29, from Chinkhoma Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Njombwa in Kasungu District who were arrested for the offence of mobile phones.

Precious Zulu, 28, of Saulos Village, T/A Mpherembe in Mzimba and 25-year-old Thomson Soko from T/A Ganya in Ntcheu have been charged for an offence of conduct likely to cause breach of peace while Andrew Thomson, 30, from Buleya Village, T/A Ganya in Ntcheu was arrested for being found in possession of Indian hemp. n
