Five teams have wound up their TNM Super League first round games with Silver Strikers dictating matters on 31 points after a comprehensive 5-0 thumping of Mafco FC on Sunday.

Rodrick Gonani claimed a double to make it eight this season, Harvey Mkacha also hit two while Green Harawa scored one as Silver went four points clear of second-placed Red Lions, whose 11-game unbeaten run ended with a 3-0 loss to Blue Eagles.

To their credit, Lions remain the only team with a perfect away record having won all five games.

Mighty Wanderers’ 1-0 beating of bottom-placed Escom United through Joseph Kamwendo’s strike has the Nomads, who have won three games under caretaker Felix Fosco, climb a step up to third place on 26 points from 14 games. They have pushed Azam Tigers to fourth position on 24 points.

Civo United sank to sixth position on 22 points. The fifth slot is now occupied by Blantyre United (23 points) who tore apart Kabwafu FC 4-0, courtesy of Brown Mizeye’s brace which took his tally to five goals.

Kabwafu remain second from the bottom on 10 points, just like Presidential Cup finalists Moyale Barracks, from 13 games. They are two points ahead of tail-enders Escom on eight points from 12 games.

Ninety-eight games have been played to date and 264 goals have been scored with Silver claiming the most, 35, and have won all eight home matches. Bvumbwe Research have conceded the most goals, 25.

Rookies Bvumbwe Research and Kabwafu are still searching for an away victory.
